How PaydayMetro works
PaydayMetro is a connecting service, not a lender. Here's the entire journey — including the parts other sites gloss over.
Step 1 — You submit one request
The loan request form takes about three minutes on a phone. It asks for the loan amount you need, contact details, income information, and — on the final step — identity and banking details, because no lender can consider a request without them. We explain why each sensitive field is needed right next to it.
Honest caveat: your request is not a loan application with PaydayMetro, and filling it out doesn't guarantee anything. It authorizes us to share your information with lenders and lending partners so they can decide whether to offer you a loan.
Step 2 — We attempt to match you
Our system securely presents your request to the lender networks we work with, filtered by your state's rules. If your state effectively prohibits payday lending, we stop here and show you alternatives instead — we don't route requests where the product isn't legal.
Honest caveat: lenders accept or decline in seconds based on their own criteria. Roughly speaking, requests with steady verifiable income and an active checking account in good standing match most often — but no one is ever guaranteed a match.
Step 3 — You review the lender's offer
If a lender accepts your request, we send you to that lender's website to finish. The lender — not PaydayMetro — shows you the loan agreement: amount, fees, APR, payment dates, and what happens if you pay late. Federal law (the Truth in Lending Act) requires this disclosure before you sign.
Honest caveat: read the agreement on the lender's site carefully. This is high-cost credit — see our Rates & Fees page for what typical pricing looks like, and only sign if the repayment fits your next paychecks. If the terms don't work for you, decline. Nothing obligates you to accept.
Step 4 — Funding
If you sign, most lenders send money to your checking account by ACH direct deposit — commonly the next business day, sometimes the same day if you finish early and your bank supports it. See same-day funding, honestly explained.
Honest caveat: cutoff times, weekends, holidays, and your own bank all affect timing. No connecting service controls when money lands.
What happens to your information
We encrypt sensitive fields (SSN, bank account numbers) at rest, transmit everything over TLS, share your request only with lenders and lending partners as part of matching, and purge sensitive fields on a retention schedule. The full picture is in Your Privacy Rights, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time via the data deletion page.
Common questions
Does submitting a request cost anything?
No. PaydayMetro is free for borrowers. We're paid by lenders and lending partners when a request is delivered to them, which is how we keep the service free. A legitimate lender will never ask you to pay a fee before receiving a loan — that's a scam.
Am I guaranteed to be matched with a lender?
No. Matching depends on your state, income, banking details, and the lenders' own criteria at that moment. If no lender accepts your request, we'll show you alternatives instead of leaving you at a dead end.
Can I cancel after I'm matched?
Yes — being matched creates no obligation. You only have a loan if you review a lender's terms and sign their agreement. Until then you can walk away at any point, and even after signing, some states give you a right to rescind by a deadline (often the next business day).
Why do you need my SSN and bank account details?
Lenders require them to verify your identity, check your borrowing history through specialty credit bureaus, and know where to deposit funds and collect payments. We encrypt these fields, mask them in our systems, and only transmit them to lenders and lending partners as part of your request, with your consent.
